I just gave $50 to OGHS through the website of my church. It seemed that it sent me to the nation site for paying. I assume this will automatically give credit to my church for the gift, but since it didn't ask for my church's name I will double check here and please credit Journey Community Church Plant, Shawnee KS. Thanks.

I am most definitely a direct product of my parents. Not only my genes, but everything from my values to my sense of humor. My spiritual and my religious roots are what they taught and gave to me. I hear them in my head many times when I am speaking to, or even just watching, my daughter. My desire to help others is a direct result of how I witnessed them stepping up to do the same for people we often barely knew. At times, it is not just "what would Jesus do", but "what would Mom and Dad do?". Not a day has gone by since each of them passed away that I don't think of both of them, and if I live to be half as a good a human being as they were, then I will leave this world one day, secure in the knowledge that I made a difference and it was a good one.

Wallace, at our house, it's the 3 pronged fork everyone fights for! :) And we, too, have soccer practice on Fridays. I'm glad you shared this!! I read your Holy, Weak entry, too, and was moved. AND, it went right along with the words that were written for our children's ministry newsletter...I linked your blog to the newsletter!

Share your bright ideas here! What new things can we do to reveal God's love in the lives of people? What issues of justice can we engage? How can we care for creation and the community?

My husband and I are interested in joining your group. Do you have any space? We are members at Resurrection but haven't helped in Joplin. We were hoping to help on that weekend. Thanks so much and we will look forward to hearing from you.
